Training Design and Delivery Case Studies

Symbiotics believe in offering a ‘Student-centric’ approach to training that integrates both human performance and human factors concerns providing total training solutions delivered by experienced practitioners.

Inadequate understanding of CCTV evidence caused the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to reject a significant number of cases. Lack of certified professional expertise in this area meant other pieces of CCTV evidence risked rejection during prosecutions with the result that crimes went unprosecuted.

In partnership with industry experts, Symbiotics overcame these problems by mastering every aspect of CCTV and creating a 5-day CCTV Investigators’ Course. It’s specifically designed to give investigators the correct legal, procedural and organisational skills to effectively use CCTV evidence in court.

The course produces highly professional Investigators with a BTEC Level 4 Professional Award in CCTV Investigation. Presenting CCTV evidence with accredited professional expertise increases the sense of trust within the judiciary. With video evidence now more credible, fewer criminal cases are rejected.

C2DB is the core situational awareness software application of Ultra Electronics’ information management display systems.

Designed to meet military, para-military and commercial real-time surveillance and security requirements, C2DB provides a strategic and tactical Common Operational Picture by integrating sensor data in both land and maritime environments. C2DB is in operational use in Europe, the Middle East, and North America.

Symbiotics were required to address the training requirement by conducting a JSP822 fully compliant TNA in conjunction with equipment manufacturers and providers. Course design and development activities were also carried out, along with training delivery to operators and system maintainers. Training management was conducted by Symbiotics in addition to the co-ordination of industry and subject matter expertise during delivery of the course.

Symbiotics solution provides an ongoing training programme in support of roulement of troops to Afghanistan in cost-effective and timely manner.

Symbiotics continues to offer major, on-going Urgent Operational Requirement (UOR) support to the Force Protection Integrated Project Team (IPT).

Customer: Regional Police

Vector is a high performance, secure, digital two-way TETRA radio from Thales' Land and Joint Division, specifically designed for covert use. Users of such an application include the police, armed forces and security services.

At the request of the manufacturer and in conjunction with their subject matter experts Symbiotics have developed and delivered a bespoke course which enables end users to build the necessary hard skills to operate the tool.

The training course is designed to enable users, with no prior knowledge of the system, to build the necessary database information and subsequently fill the VECTOR radio sets with the appropriate operational data to enable the effective use of the system.  The course has been delivered to Police Air Support in the UK and the Swedish Armed Forces.

In completing the course, users were able to become a vector radio user and understand the systems requirement for radio fills.
